Bryan found the solution to the donate button quandry! Thanks Bryan! You are awesome!
Now I need suggestions for what childrens charity to donate to. Anyone have one very near and dear to their heart? Things are starting to fall into place and I am getting really excited about this guys!
I wonder if any of my peeps are willing to add my button to their blogs and chat up my idea? Anyone? I need supportive people on this! The button goes to my paypal account which will charge them $2 a poem. If you are willing to set the poem on your sidebar please add some details under it so people know what it is as well as a link to my sample page for anyone who is interested in seeing some of my work.
I still love the idea of craft people taking my poems, creating artwork of some kind and placing them for sale in their online stores. What I am thinking is a joining of talents. $2 of the sale for my charity and the rest to the person shipping and making the product ( I think thats a pretty sweet deal). All they would need to do is sell the item and then once they recieve payment for the product in the mail come here to my blog and donate the $2 directly through my blog. It’s all about trust. I can see people buying the products for the artistic melding of two styles. It would be a win-win. If anyone sees this and wants to contemplate it please e-mail me at: Catwiththeblues@aol.com. I already have a woman doing pottery interested and I would love more. I am thinking Photography and poetry calenders would also be a cool idea.
I need people who know the business or have an online craft business already set up who can see the profit of having poetry added to their pieces. My work is unique and I believe in it. I know people like it, my poetry blog has taken off the same way my blog here did. I also know that if mine does well we might get some other poets to join in and do something positive for charity!
I don’t intend to stop until I have earned $10,000 for charity. It’s on my list of 100 things to do before I die. Might as well pretend I am dying tomorrow! I am determined..and a Bekki determined is a sight to behold!
This will take some time folks but I can see this becoming something really special, with your help and support. I have lots of ideas and I am willing to hear yours too. No idea is too wacky, look who’s talking here, right?
Oh, what about vintage cards with poems added!!!! I can see that taking off. Do not be surprised if tomorrow I contact a few of you with this idea of creating something together. I am even willing to make of some special samples of my poems to show you, just ask.
I am going to be annoying as heck about this..I have creative peeps and I want to utilize them!! You all know who you are!

I don’t know if you are looking domestic or international. However, one of my favorite children’s charities is Compassion International. It’s a sponsor-a-child type charity, but of course they are also more than happy to take a one-time big pile of cash from Bekki.
Anyway, one of the reasons I like them is that they have very low overhead, so more of the money goes where it should. It consistently has high ratings with Charity Navigator. If you are not familiar with them, they rate charities on their operational effeciency. They basically help you to determine how much of your money is actually making it to the cause.
Compassion International is a religious charity–I don’t know if that’s an issue for you or not.
