One of the coolest experiences I had at Disney was a cross-utilization for the opening of the Fantasmic show. I had to do some major maneuvering to get that position, since my Dyslexia makes doing vending in the stands a real no-no, can you imagine how many screw-ups I would have made? ($23 change becomes $32 eep!) I needed a register so I could confirm my amounts each time, which is my habit..it works for me and I was a very good cashier. In order to get the job I had to convince them that hot dog vending was my life, practically. In the end the lack of people who actually wanted to cook and serve hot dogs was the thing that saved me.
What a lot of fun I had! The show was great. The work incredibly easy (cooking a hot dog is done mostly by the hot-dog and the water) The time it took to serve was quick and while the show was on selling was not allowed, so I spent a lot of my time preparing for the next show or cleaning up after the last one. Cleaning is one of the cappy loves, we love making order (just not all the time).
The one thing I will never forget is the entertainment..they had a comedian who worked the crowd and no matter how many times I saw his act it was always fresh and amusing.
The score for the show will forever be burned into my brain. I heard it 3 times a night, every single night. Some sadistic person asked me if I wanted a copy of it. Were they nuts? Seriously, 3 times a night, every night for 3 months. I could barely restrain myself from grabbing the Cd’s as I passed and tossing them as far as possible.
The sad part is…years have passed and I am finding myself wishing..I had actually bought one. (It will pass..trust me…it will pass) (grin)

As a fellow Dyslexic and former Cast Member myself, all i can say is Well done and way to go!
i am trying to get ex-cast members together through a new site of mine, maybe you could swing by… http://afterthemouse.com

You worked for disney?!?
That’s something I really wanted to do when I left highschool, but didn’t. I’ll hafta go back and check out some of your early blogs to hear about the experience.
heh your going to find a lot to read. I have been posting memories for a while now. (giggle) Let me know which memory is your favorite.
